The American Legion
Founded by an Act of Congress in 1919, The American Legion is the nation's largest veterans service organization, built on four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Youth Programs. Their mission is to advocate fiercely for all generations of veterans, service members, and military families. They provide free, accredited service officers for VA claims assistance (securing over $21 billion in benefits in the 2023-24 fiscal year), offer significant scholarship opportunities, and run numerous community and youth programs through a vast network of local Posts. They are also leading the "Be The One" initiative to combat veteran suicide.
